Question about GFS Grib

There is two things I don't really understand.
1st: (not so important) In XYGRIB and QtVlm there is no way to download the GFS 16d forecast.
I assume it's downloaded from the same server. Where are the 16d located?
2nd: (very important, especially for short races)
I understand that both - VR and Zezo - update the new forecast files for the next days as soon as they available which is a lot earlier than the complete GFS 10d model on XYGRIB. Where can I get those partial datas for my own routing software to compare?

VR and Zezo use the NOAA GFS 1° forecasts. NOAA had 3-hour-forecasts covering the first 10 days and 12-hour forecasts covering 6 more days. Since recently there are 3-hour forecasts all the way. You can find information how to access the forecast data here.

I also copy the downloaded files here:

http://zezo.org/grib/

Both the originals and converted to GRIB v1.

You can also check the update progress there. The file times are in UTC.

Does anyone know from scratch, is the GFS 1° version just the subsampled 0.5° (or even 0.25°) version?
